China's push for a higher urbanization rate does not signify positive urban population growth or a growing number of rural residents moving to urban areas. The country's aging migrant workers and shrinking rural population will pose significant structural headwinds, undermining Beijing's urbanization efforts. The number of migrant workers in China's urban centers is projected to decrease by six million over the next five years and by more than 28 million over the next ten years.
