Arthur Budaghyan

BCA Research Chief Emerging Markets and China Strategist

Arthur Budaghyan is BCA Research’s Chief Strategist, China Investment Strategy and Emerging Markets Strategy. Since joining BCA in 1999, he has been responsible for EM trading strategies and became the Chief Strategist of the Emerging Markets Strategy in 2005.

Prior to BCA, Arthur worked for a regulatory government agency in Armenia supervising financial markets. Arthur has an MBA from American University of Armenia, a Masters in Economic Policy Management from McGill University, and is a CFA charterholder.

Trevor Hughes

Far East and China expert, former Owner of Gerrard Commodities (China) Ltd.

Trevor Hughes has lived for over thirty years in Hong Kong. He was for many years Owner and Managing Director of Gerrard Commodities (China) Ltd.; a Hong Kong-based company, established in September 1988, specialising in the sale and shipment of steel, metals, and raw materials, principally coal and iron ore, to and from China.

He is now an independent agent and consultant as well as Director and Legal Counsel to Global Sustainable Sourcing Ltd, a large Hong Kong trading company with 4 offices in China as well as India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. He arrived in Hong Kong in 1986 to head up a new joint venture between the then British Steel Corporation and renowned Hong Kong trading company, Jardine Matheson targeting the then emerging market of China, as well as opportunities in Japan, Korea, Taiwan and other Asian countries before setting up his own trading company specializing in the China steel industry.

Trevor Hughes has many years of diversified work experience in the Far East including dispute resolution, arbitration, and expert witness work in contractual, shipping, and quality disputes in the steel and metals industries. He has, for many years been a consultant on China, its economy, banking and financial issues, industrial and commercial scenarios, domestic and overseas markets, environmental concerns and political aims and considerations.

These consultations have been by telephone; in-person and virtual meetings; presentations to small groups, and webcasts to Asian, European and American fund managers, investors and industry professionals. He holds an Honours degree in Law (LLB) from the University of Sheffield in England.
